Lisa Ashton cemented her place at the top of the Women’s Series Order of Merit by winning Event Eight in Wigan on Sunday, while Fallon Sherrock picked up the day’s other title.

Sherrock produced some impressive darts throughout Event Seven, starting with a 4-0 whitewash of Scot Lorraine Hyde, a game in which she averaged almost 95.43, her highest of the day.

Her second victory came in the form of another whitewash, this time knocking out fellow Brit Kim Holden. Next came another 4-0 victory against Tracy North to make it three perfect victories in a row and send her into the last 16.

There, she overcame Kirsty Hutchinson, 4-2 and recorded her third 90-plus average of the day. Another 4-2 victory in the quarter-finals, this time against Rhian Griffiths, booked her place in the semi-finals where she got the better of Jane Densley, with a 5-3 victory sending her to the final.

The final saw the world’s top two female players meet once again in the Women’s Series, with Sherrock looking to avenge her defeat to Ashton last time out. A comfortable 5-1 win saw Sherrock double her second Women’s Series title tally of 2022.

It was a similar story for Ashton in Event Eight, who also began with three 4-0 victories in a row, defeating Catherine Handley, Barbora Hospodarska and Mem Martin. Ashton continued her fine form in the last 16 was just as impressive, with a 4-1 over Priscilla Steenbergen sending her to the quarter-finals.

It was here that she met Rhian O’Sullivan, whom she defeated 4-1 to make it to the last four. Ashton was put through her paces in the semi-finals by Lorraine Winstanley, who forced a last leg shootout, which Ashton came through to book her place in the final.

There, she defeated Katie Sheldon 5-2 victory to win her second Women’s Series title of the weekend. Women’s Series Area: Click Here for your dedicated website area.
