JDC Darts Academy
The JDC (Junior Darts Corporation) is the only academy structure endorsed by the PDC & PDPA
The Junior Darts Corporation will continue to grow in 2016 with the addition of a Junior European Championship alongside five Tour Events and the JDC seasons which will be held within Academies around the UK.
The JDC offers parents, mentors and juniors a fun start in darts for players of all levels from ages of 8 to 18. The JDC structure allows people passionate about darts to get involved at grassroots helping juniors enjoy the game the JDC is built on goos sportsmanship, having fun and playing in a non pressured environment.
The inaugural year of JDC events in 2015 saw Josh Richardson win the season-ending Grand Final in December. The JDC has developed from the Darts Academies which were pioneered by PDC star Steve Brown and have grown nationwide, and with the backing of the PDC and The PDPA will expand their circuit for players aged 8-18 this year.
Alongside the six JDC Tour Events, the Junior Darts European Championship will be held from September 16-18 at Pontins Brean Sands, while five Seasons will also be held in the nationwide JDC Academies. The Academies use a PDC-endorsed unique scoring system developed to accurately measure a child’s ability, along with shirt-coloured grading for players.
“We are really pleased with what we have seen the JDC accomplish in the last 12 months,” said PDC Director Rod Harrington. “Together we will be able to provide a great opportunity for junior darts players.” 2015 JDC champion Richardson is the son of former World Championship qualifier James Richardson, with Dan Perry, Connor Levett, Tyler Radlett and John Brown winning other events last year.
