German Darts Grand Prix ET2
Michael van Gerwen continued his European Tour dominance with a 8-5 win over Peter Wright to win The German Darts Grand Prix from Munich, Germany.
MICHAEL VAN GERWEN claimed a 22nd European Tour title and a second in as many weeks as he defeated Peter Wright 8-5 in the final of the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich.
MVG set the tone in the opening leg of the final breaking the Wright throw to take the early initiative. The world number one then kept Wright at arms length until the night leg of the match when the Scot took out 106 to close the gap to one.
Wright, who was looking for his seventh European Tour victory, then produce a stunning 161 checkout to break the Van Gerwen throw and level the match at 5-5. The Dutchman reacted immediately, retrieving the break of throw that had just been snatched from him by pinning tops for a 6-5 lead.
Van Gerwen then won the following two legs to claim an eighth PDC title of 2018 and yet another victory over Peter Wright in a European Tour final.
