Covid Testing at Bolton:

Covid Testing will be carried out between 11.30-17.30 GMT on Wednesday Feb 24th. Players will be advised of their time slot by Graham Fairhurst independantly.

Players must return a negative result to be permitted to participate in the event. Players who return a positive result will not be permitted to participate in the event and may be replaced by a reserve player.

Testing will be carried out by the PDC’s appointed healthcare provider, Prenetics, who are Public Health England approved and will provide suitably qualified personnel to conduct Covid-19 antigen tests.

Any person whose test returns an inconclusive result will be required to retake the test and remain in (or enter) isolation inside their hotel room until a negative result is obtained. If a positive result is obtained, that person will be required to leave the hotel immediately and return home to self-isolate in accordance with UK Government procedures.

Non-UK players who test positive will be required to make arrangements to self- isolate in the UK for ten days before returning home and then leave the Venue at the earliest possible opportunity. It is an individual’s own responsibility to ascertain if they have any requirements from their own government to quarantine on their return to their home country.

All non-UK players are advised to check their Travel Insurance policy before travelling. Any person who refuses to take the test or leaves the Venue/Hotel (as applicable) before obtaining a negative result will be removed from the Venue/Hotel and be excluded from the event.

During their stay at the event, players and their guests may leave the Hotel/Venue for sensible, legitimate reasons only, for a maximum of ONE HOUR per day. A code of conduct will be provided (on the Bubble Info Document) for each person to follow to include social distancing and not mixing unnecessarily with external people or environments.

Players still competing in the tournament are strongly encouraged to remain in the Hotel/Venue until the end of the event. The PDC’s Welfare Officer will conduct daily temperature checks and health screening for all on-site personnel.

It is strongly advised that any player displaying symptoms of Covid-19 or who feels they may be positive obtain a test locally to avoid a wasted journey although they will still need to undergo the PDC’s test on arrival at the Venue.

The PDC will have a medically qualified Welfare Office on site and any person feeling unwell or showing any symptoms of illness will be required to remain in their hotel room until they are medically cleared to leave their room.

Daily Registration at the venue:

Players need to register in the venue from 11.00 - 13.00 GMT with play expected to start at 14.00 GMT. If you do not register by 13.00 GMT you will not be included in the draw for that day, with timings as follows:

  • 11.00 GMT - Doors Open
  • 11.00 to 13.00 - GMT Registration
  • 13.00 GMT - Registration closes, and the draw is made

  • It is your responsibility to ensure you have registered at the correct location. Failure to do so could result in you being omitted from the draw.
  • Players must register with PDC Officials upon arrival to ensure that they are included in the draw.

The Players Championship tournaments will be streamed live online through the PDC’s website (PDCTV) and to a number of bookmakers’ websites worldwide.

Testing & Check In:

All testing is being conducted at the Bolton Whites Hotel. If you are staying in the Holiday Inn Bolton Centre please go to the Bolton Whites Hotel for your test at the appointed time BEFORE you check- in to the hotel.

At the Bolton Whites Hotel, please enter the hotel via the main reception. You will be escorted to the Covid-19 testing station and following your test you must self-isolate in your own hotel room until you receive your result. YOU MUST NOT LEAVE YOUR ROOM UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A RESULT.

If you require a transfer to the Holiday Inn this will be provided by the PDC for you – or you may transfer in your own car. No other form of transport is permitted (taxi, bus etc).

Please arrive at your allocated testing time – if you are running late you MUST inform Graham Fairhurst. Be aware that if you are late it may not be possible for you to be tested in time for you to leave your room until later the following day.

Once you are inside your hotel room you MUST NOT leave it (except in an emergency) until your test result is received therefore please ensure you have everything with you (including luggage, darts equipment, snacks etc!)

Any person whose test returns an inconclusive result will be required to retake the test and remain in isolation inside their hotel room until a negative result is obtained.

If a positive result is obtained, you will be required to leave the hotel immediately and return home to self-isolate in accordance with UK Government procedures. The PDC will inform you of this and security personnel will escort you from site. No player who tests positive or displays symptoms shall be permitted to participate in the event.

If one person in a room tests positive, the other guest(s) must also leave immediately and self-isolate in accordance with UK government guidelines. You may only share a room with a member of the same household or a registered carer.

Non-UK players who test positive will be required to make arrangements to self-isolate in the UK for 10 days before returning home and then leave the Venue at the earliest possible opportunity.

At The Hotel:

The PDC is enforcing a ‘semi-bubble’ for this event. You are permitted to leave the hotel and arena for up to ONE HOUR per day once you have provided a negative test result, providing you behave sensibly and responsibly and do not place yourself in a position where you increase the risk of Covid contamination unnecessarily.

You may use off-site shops, or exercise off-site (for example go for a walk or run) providing you follow social distancing guidelines at all times and do not use them at busy times. Public transport or taxis should not be used.

Appropriate examples of reasons to leave the bubble are: returning to your car, essential shopping, visiting a restaurant for a takeaway/delivery.

Inappropriate examples of reasons to leave the venue are: meeting up with friends or people outside the bubble, visiting busy shops, attending social events.

Daily room servicing will NOT be provided at the Hotels. Bedding, bathroom amenities and clean towels will be left for collection at the hotel reception. Room servicing can be arranged on request.

Hotel staff who are working within the hotel and arena area will wear PPE and follow social distancing guidelines. The Bolton Whites Hotel and Holiday Inn Bolton Centre are exclusive for PDC personnel (with the exception of venue staff).

In Room Dining will be available and this will be the only way you will be able to use the hotel’s dining facilities whilst you are waiting for your test result. If you wish to smoke, you must do so outside the hotel observing social distancing at all times.

At The Events:

On entering the arena each day, all PDC personnel (players, guests, staff) will receive a temperature check and health screening questionnaire by the PDC’s Welfare Officer. Once the temperature has been determined to be normal, all personnel will be given a wristband to wear. Players may remove their wristband for their match.

Anyone who records a high temperature will be required to be retested 15 and then if required, 30 minutes later. If their temperature remains high, they will be assessed by a qualified medical person to determine whether or not they will be permitted into the arena or not.

Please remember to follow social distancing guidelines at all times when in the hotel and arena – where possible stay 1m+ from other people. Please wash your hands regularly and use hand sanitisers provided around the arena.

A medically-trained Welfare Officer is available should you feel unwell at any stage or have any other queries. To contact the Welfare Officer, please call PDC Tournament Director Graham Fairhurst via +44 (0) 7930 975 240.

The University of Bolton Stadium will be open to players and guests from 1100 each day and you must only enter via the signposted route from the hotel.

Players are encouraged to bring their own practice board for their room but should note that not all rooms are designed in a way that will accommodate door hanging boards so DartMate or similar stands are recommended.

Please avoid physical contact with other players and staff, including handshakes and/or hugs. No more than four players may use a practice board at any one time and social distancing must be observed by utilising the marked lines.

Following your elimination from each Event (or on winning it!), you are required to leave the Arena at the earliest opportunity and return to the hotel. On your departure day, you are requested to leave your belongings in your hotel room, and collect these before departing. Suitcases will not be permitted inside the arena.

If you have any queries during your stay, please contact PDC Tournament Director Graham Fairhurst via +44 (0) 7930 975 240.
