Template - Date: Social Media Abuse: An Open Letter to PDPA Members

Dear PDPA members,

We are aware that some of you have recently experienced some abuse on social media.

We are sorry that this is something you have had to encounter and want to do what we can to assist you if you feel you need any support or guidance.

While we do not have the power to eradicate online abuse or punish the perpetrators of it, it is our role to support our members in any way we can.

Firstly, we would like to remind you of our latest guidance on social media abuse (DARTS) which can be found here.

We are fully aware of the potential effects of experiencing online abuse and would therefore also like to remind you of the mental health and emotional wellbeing support that is available to you as a member of the PDPA.

PDPA members have free access to the Thrive Wellbeing App – an app that can help you manage your mental health, stress and anxiety with techniques to relax you in as little as five minutes.

To download the Thrive App go to the App Store (for apple devices) or Google Play (for android) and search for ‘Thrive: mental wellbeing’. Then set up a new account using the activation code PDPA2017.

The PDPA are always available to provide further support and guidance to our members on any issue, including social media abuse. Please feel free to contact us at any time. We would also really appreciate any feedback on what more you think we could do to help.

If you have suffered social media abuse and want to report it to the PDPA, please e-mail info@pdpa.co.uk typing ‘SOCIAL MEDIA ABUSE’ in the subject field and include as much information as possible, such as the username of the perpetrator(s) & links or images of any abusive posts or messages.

We are also here to help with any integrity issues relating to Darts. If you have received messages or approaches relating to gambling, match-fixing or any other integrity issues please contact the PDPA or DRA immediately. Do not interact with the instigator and keep any evidence, such as the name/contact of the perpetrator(s) & links or images of any posts or messages.

Kind regards,
