Burnett Prince of Holland

‘The Prince of Wales’ Richie Burnett, won his first PDC Pro-Tour Title with a fantastic win in Nuland, Hollland. The Players Championship win will also give the welshman a place in the forthcoming ‘World Grand Prix’ as well as guaranteed places in the PDC World Darts Championships and The Players Championship Finals both in December.

His 6-4 win in the final against Dave Chisnall, will further increase Burnetts chance of representing Wales in the PDC World Cup in 2012.

He started the day with a 6-1 win over Jerry Hendriks followed by a 6-2 win over Dave Smith. Then 4 terrific wins over well established PDC players Denis Ovens 6-2, Paul Nicholson 6-4, Kevin Painter 6-5 and Mark Webster 6-2 moved Burnett into his second PDC Pro-Tour final following his final loss against Webster earlier this year.

Chisnall with wins over Jose Antonio Justicia 6-2, Steve Hine & Kim Huybrechts both 6-2 moved the St Helens ace into the last 16 where he then beat Justin Pipe 6-2, Nigel Heydon who had earlier beaten yesterdays winner Gary Anderson was the next man in the Welshmans sights 6-3. Kurt van der Rijk’s marvelous run was ended in the semi-final by Burnett, who moved to the final and his first win.
