James Wade and Phil Taylor won through their respective semi-finals to do battle tonight on the winter gardens stage for the World Matchplaty title, Taylor a multi Champion here at Blackpool and Wade a former Champion both won through against Andy Hamilton & Adrian Lewis respectively.
Taylors average against Hamilton was 105.59 which was his 4th consuquestive average in the 100s, it included 45 hundreds, 13 140s and 3 maximums and finishes of 121, 119 1and 116. Hamiltons who has reproduced his form in this event also performed well with an average just under the ton.
His run this week qualifies him for the European Championships which starts on Thursday and keeps him in the elite top 16. He said ‘I came into this tournament just and in bad form, I am now back up there and have more self belief, other players will also have taken note and will be a bit more wary when they play me again.
James Wade. also continues his great form. The recent winner of the UK Open stormed past the current PDC World Champion Adrian Lewis 17-10 (95.37) which included a maximum 170 finish and five 180s. Lewis struggled to keep up with the Former World Matchplay Champion, missing crucial doubles, and once the gap was maintained it was hard to chase. Wade finished the match off in style with a 127 finish on the bull.
So Wade will now face Taylor in the final tonight at the winter gardens.
