Double Dutch for Anderson

Gary Anderson goes Double Dutch, by winning the Sunday Dutch Darts Trophy in Nuland with 6-3 win over ‘Pie Man’ Andy Smith, Justin Pipe hits 9 darter in round 3

Dutch Darts Trophy, Nuland, Holland;

A last leg decider in the first round against Rico Dera, paved the way for Gary Anderson for another run after his win yesterday in the weekends Dutch Darts Trophy double header. He beat Michael Mansell 6-3, Adrian Gray 6-1 and Co Stompe 6-4 to set up a quarter final match against  veteran Dennis Smith who himself was looking for a semi-final spot which could qualify him for the World Matchplay. Smith raced into a 5-1 lead, but couldnt get over the line and Anderson took advantage with 5 consequetive legs to win 6-5. A semi-final win 6-2 against yesterday’s 9 dart hero Simon Whitlock moved Anderson into another Players Championship final this time against Andy Smith, who himself won one last week in Barnsley. Smith started the day with a 6-3 win over Martino Tagliapetra, the same score via Jyan Artut and a last leg win over Steve Brown. He then beat Denmarks Per Laursen 6-1and Colin Osborne 6-3 to set up a semi final with Vincent van der Voort. Another last leg decider saw ‘The Pie Man’ move into the final against Anderson. Justin pipe had earlier equalled Simon Whitlocks 9 dart feat in his defeat to Colin Osborne in the 3 round.
