Nicholson sinks Brown & Robinson beats Griffiths to take Barnsley titles. Paul Nicholson continues his fantastic form with another Players Championship victory at The Barnsley Players Championships on Saturday, he overcame Steve Brown in a fantastic final at the Metrodome 6-4.

Reece Robinson won his first youth Tour event defeating Shaun Griffiths in the final, Michael van Gerwen & Adam Smith-Neale were losing semi-finalists. 

In the Players Championship semi-finals Dave Chisnall had 4 match darts to beat ‘The Asset’ before getting his own shot at the double and making no mistake to win 6-5. In the other semi-final Justin Pipe did a ‘Bristow v Deller’ by opting to leave 32 instead of throwing for the match only to see Brown take out 156.

Over 200 PDPA members will attend the 2 events on Saturday & Sunday, with Youth Tour event 9 on the Saturday evening. Michael van Gerwen will be looking to add to his recent 2 victories in the youth tour which has put him at the top of the leader board ahead of Paul Barham in second and Shaun Griffiths in third. The two Players Championships which are also memorial trophies (Eddy Cox Memorial & Bob Bourn Memorial) are the penultimate events before the cut-off for The World Matchplay in Blackpool. Vincent van der Voort, Andy Hamilton and Wayne Jones who are 15th, 16th & 17th in the PDC Order of Merit will be looking to cement their places in the top 16 and have automatic qualification for the World Matchplay, while the Players Championship Order of Merit which provides the next 16 qualifiers looks a much tighter affair. With 4 Players Championship events still to go (Barnsley 11th/12th June & Nuland 18th/19th June) all could change over the next 2 weekends.
