All the statistics, results and fixtures for the SkyBET Mobile World Matchplay at The Winter Gardens, Blackpool. The Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool is ready for one of the biggest darts events on the PDC calendar ‘The World Matchplay.
It is the 18th event in its history, but still remains at its spiritual home in the holiday capital of the UK. The event from the 16th – 24th July, was won in 2010 by Phil Taylor who beat Raymond van Barnaveld in the final, it is currently the only PDC Major Darts title of the 5 that Phil still holds..(Anderson PL-Lewis WC-Wade WGP-Waites GSOD)

Day 1 - John Part hits the 9 darter but loses out to Webster, van der Voort, Lewis and Beaton win at the expence of Tabern, Painter and Jenkins.
Day 2 - Nicholson edges past Osborne 12-10, Walsh waltzes past Chisnall, Wade whitewashes Caven as Jamie caves in and Barneveld bombs out Brown 10-3
Day 3 - Wanderer Wayne Jones is too quick for ‘slow hand’ Scott Rand and comes out on top 10-6. Debutant Justin Pipe ‘forces’ Mervyn King out of the Matchplay with another 10-6 win. ‘Mile High’ Mark Hylton gives Phil Taylor a mid-air crisis before the ‘Power’ lands safely with a 10-8 win. Warrior Wes Newton wins the battle with Andy Smith 10-2 to move into round 2.
Day 4 - Ovens to hot for Baxter, Henderson bites former WMP Champion Jaws, tournament second favorite and Premier League Champion Gary Anderson hit by the hammer. The Wizard waves his wand against Wright.
Day 5 - Mark Webster captures Steve Beaton in his web and ‘The Adonis’ has nowhere to go as the Welshman runs out a 13-7 winner. World Champion Adrian Lewis brushes aside Vincent van der Voort 13-5 and hits the ‘jackpot’ with a 170 finish to seal it. The ‘Barney Armey’ is in full swing as Ray van Barneveld holds off a spirited Paul Nicholson to win 13-9. James Wades through to the quarters with a close encounter against Walsh.
Day 6- Simon Whitlock follows the yellow brick road to the last 8 as he walks all over Denis Ovens 13-1. Andy Hamilton needed his hammer to fend off John Henderson and hang on for a 13-11 win. Phil Taylor powers past Wayne Jones 13-7 with tournaments highest average so far. Newton eases past pipe to set up a quarter final with ‘The Power’
Day 7 – Afternoon; The first Quarter final threw up one of the greatest comebacks in the event, Whitlock lead 15-8 needing only one more, only to see Hamilton win 9 consequetive legs to take the semi-final spot. The second quarter had current World Champ Adrian Lewis against former BDO Champ Mark Webster, Webster lead early at 5-1 only to go in at the 3rd break 7-8 down. Lewis then kept in front and ran away at the end to win by 4 legs. Evening; James Wade gets revenge on Ray van Barneveld for his defeat last year to the Dutchman with a 16-11 triumph to make the semi-finals and a meeting with World Champion Adrian Lewis. Phil Taylor comes from 4-1 down to destroy Wes Newton 16-5 and posts the tournaments highest average in doing so.
Day 8 – Semi Finals Night – Phil Taylor reaches the final with a power surge to bang ‘The Hammer’ Andy Hamilton out of the tournament 17-9 in a high quality contest where both men at one point were averaging over 100 well into the match. James ‘The Machine’ Wade motors past World Champion Adrian Lewis 17-10 to book a final showdown with Phil Taylor in his quest for a 2nd Matchplay crown.
Day 9 – THE FINAL – Phil Taylor powers past James Wade 18-8 to lift his 12th World Matchplay crown. The turning point proved to be as early as the second session where ‘The Power’ whitewashed ‘The Machine’ 5-0 to go into the break 8-2 in front, from then on there was no way back for James as Taylor tasted victory again with a high quality display.
