Since the inception of the PDC (WDC) there have been a total of 76 perfect 9 Dart Legs, Phil Taylor hit the first in the Primus Masters, Belgium 1996.
Last weekend in the UK Open 6 & 7 at the Metrodome, Barnsley Welshman Wayne Atwood hit his first and the 75th only for Dennis ‘The Menace’ Priestley to hit one in the same event on the Saturday and share the prize of £3,200, the largest prize for the feat (Non-TV) was by Colin Lloyd v Colin Monk in the 2008 Players Championships in Germany where he pocketed £12,400. Two other players also had chances to hit the magical leg but both missed double 12 with the ninth Dart.
On the Sunday Wes Newton & Dennis Priestley both missed the final double to achieve the feat, so there could have been 6 in one weekend ‘Absolutely Amazing’!
When we look back, it was once every few years if at all, now the high standard of the PDC not only improves the averages and play but more perfect legs. This last weekend was the 11th time 2 perfect legs have been hit in the same event or over a W/E, Dennis has hit the 6th this season and we are only just in April, we had a record 14 in 2009. Phil Taylor leads the way with 11, closely followed by Barney with 7 and James Wade with 4, there have been 45 different players who have hit the perfect game
