ADRIAN LEWIS has slammed accusations of him putting off rivals on the oche as “bull****”.

The Stoke thrower is one of the world’s most in-form players after reaching the final of the Bodog.com Grand Prix which zoomed him up to World No4.

But Jackpot, 25, has hit back at snipes that he uses gamesmanship on stage to upset rivals’ concentration.

Phil Taylor, who he beat in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix, and James Wade claimed Lewis was using darts dark arts.

And Scot Gary Anderson was also involved in a ruck with Lewis last year dubbed ‘Floorboardgate’. He claimed the Stoke star was making the oche move when he was throwing.

But Lewis reckons that’s just down to his MUSCLES!

He exclusively told SunSport: “All that talk is just bull****.

“I probably do make the stage move but that’s because I’m 6ft3 and full of muscle!

“The stages are only built like a bit of scaffolding and chipboard, they’re not that sturdy.

“But I think the PDC are doing their best to make the stages a lot more solid because there have been complaints.

“To say that I’m putting off my opponents on purpose though is out of order.”
But Lewis also admits that it upset him to beat mentor Taylor and was close to tears on TV after the semi-final.

He said: “I was very emotional. It was a mix of elation and disappointment.”

“I’ve known Phil for six years and he has taught me so much.”

“When he’s playing anyone else I want him to win – so to see him defeated was tough.”

However, Lewis is convinced that despite a shaky month for Taylor by his standards the 15-times world champ will come back fighting.

He said: “People have asked whether the new generation of James and I are finally taking over Phil now. Phil will win a lot more titles yet.”

“But all I’m bothered about is me right now. I’ve never got beyond the quarter-finals in the World Championship and that has to change this year.”
